Let’s Talk About Glowing Skin—and the Products That Actually Helped Me Get There
Having clear, glowing skin has never been easy for me. If you’ve ever dealt with acne scars or dark spots, you already know—it’s a journey. And if you’ve done even a little research, someone’s probably told you: you need a good exfoliator.
Not just any scrub, though. I’m talking about chemical exfoliants. They sound scary (chemicals? on my face??), but they’re actually a skincare holy grail when used right.
So What Is a Chemical Exfoliant?
Chemical exfoliants use acids or enzymes to break down the “glue” that holds dead skin cells together. When those cells let go, you’re left with smoother, brighter, more even-toned skin. They can also help with texture, unclog pores, and soften the appearance of fine lines.
When it comes to my body, I’m team African net sponge all day. But my face? I like to be more gentle—with either a soft scrub or, more often, a chemical exfoliant.
Now, I won’t pretend to be a skincare expert. But I’ve tried enough products (and wasted enough money) to give you a shortcut past the frustration. So, let’s talk about two exfoliants I’ve personally used and how they stack up:
🔍 1. Good Molecules Overnight Exfoliating Treatment
💰 Price: $6 (1 oz)
💥 Experience: This one works—fast. I saw a noticeable difference in just one week.
😬 But… It stings a little, and you have to be careful what you pair it with, or your skin will get mad. (Ask me how I know…)
🌿 2. Paula’s Choice Exfoliant
💰 Price: Around $15 (1 oz)
🌊 Experience: Much gentler and less likely to irritate your skin.
⏳ But… It takes longer to see results. You’ll need to be patient and consistent.
My Pick?
Honestly, I’m not the most patient person (I wish I was). So for me, the stingy-but-speedy Good Molecules wins—plus, it's more affordable. But if you have sensitive skin or like to play it safe, Paula’s Choice is a great option.
Have you tried either of these? Did your skin love them—or rebel?Got a holy grail exfoliant I might be sleeping on? Drop it in the comments. I’m always down to try something new (as long as it doesn’t set my face on fire).
Here’s to clearer, glowier skin—without the guesswork.
